I am a dog lover. Dogs are important to me. When I was little, I tried to swap my brother for a dog but my mom had a bit of a problem with it and put a stop to the transaction before I had a chance to sign on the dotted line. I sprang my second adoption on them when I was 13 and surprised everyone with a mutt puppy I got from a local flea market and carried 1/2 mile home in my purse. He didn’t last more than 1 day when my mom marched me back to the sellers, dramatically reminding me of my brother’s life threatening allergies to animals and making me promise never to do that again (can you tell there’s a running theme here?).
When I was living on my own in the west village in a shoebox apartment overlooking Washington Square, I found her — the ubiquitous doggie in the window — in my case a floppy eared cocker spaniel I spotted in a pet store on Christopher Street. I dragged my hubby (then my boyfriend) to that store a dozen times before I realized she was mine. I became a regular at the dog run and then a little more than a year later, adopted Cami, a shelter dog (also a cocker spaniel) found matted and covered in ticks and so happy to be loved she barely leaves my side.
And so I come to my announcement. On September 25th and 26th, I will be holding my first ever BARK sessions. The session fee and a portion of the print proceeds from this event will be donated to The Associated Humane Society, the largest shelter in NJ with 3 locations and a zoo. The shelter cares for so many abandoned, stray and unwanted animals that pass through their doors each year and if I can help even a little, I will be thrilled. In addition to the prints, Saving Grace Photography will be creating 2010 calendars specially designed to showcase the dogs (and cats!) we photograph that day.
Call 646-932-3904 or email savinggrace@savinggracephotography.com to schedule your puppy or cat’s session. Sessions begin at 9:30 and end at 3 and there will be a limited number of sessions available. Appointments will be taken on a first come first serve basis!

Now, since no post is complete without a sneak peak – this is just 1 of a set of twins and their own adorable puppy. The rest will be uploaded tomorrow but I love this shot. Their little puppy was the most well behaved little dog I’ve ever come across!

ooo, I can’t wait to see what you do with your BARK sessions! This sneak peek is adorable.
I love that you have a heart as lovely as your photographs, Janine – what a wonderful cause!
